What We're Thankful for This Year When it Comes to Dating ...

We asked HowAboutWe staffers, writers, readers, and friends ? whether single, in a relationship, or somewhere in between ? to share with us what they?re thankful for when it comes to their dating lives or relationships. Here?s what they had to say:

?I am grateful that I have had enough wrong relationships to recognize when the right one comes along.?

?That I feel like after four years I am still surprised all the time.?

?I?m thankful my boyfriend doesn?t get annoyed when I hit snooze many times every morning. (Former roommates weren?t quite so forgiving.)?

?I?m thankful that my girlfriend enjoys football, beer, and a good couch cuddle. Thanksgiving is the best holiday ever.?

?I?m thankful that my boyfriend is adventurous, and pushes me to try new things. He has taught me that I am capable of accomplishing things I never thought possible ? and he doesn?t make me feel bad when I freak out instead.?

?I?m thankful that my boyfriend has no style ? gives me a selfless reason to shop twice as much.?

?I am thankful that I have great friends who will always be covert wingwomen. That I know what I want in a relationship and am sticking to those standards. That I have the balls to go after what I want, even if it doesn?t always work out. And that I?ve learned, in 2012, that a rejection isn?t always a personal thing.?

?I?m grateful for having something constant. This year has brought a lot of changes and challenges. Knowing my relationship with my smart, kind, handsome boyfriend wasn?t a variable helped me get through it all.?

?I?m thankful that I finally let my yenta friend set me up with someone. Turns out she was right all along. Who knew??

?I?m grateful for never having to worry about being lonely ? or having leftovers go bad.?

?I?m thankful for having learned to spot red flags early and often. (Seriously, I?m super picky about who I date having made some less-than-perfect choices.)?

?Sometime after moving in together and going on trips and before getting engaged, you feel like you spend all your time with this person and that not only do they know you really well,?you know them really well back. And that?s a good feeling.?

?I?m thankful for my boyfriend, who not only loves and supports me, makes me laugh, and is a great roommate, but also brings amazing TV into my life. Without him, I wouldn?t know Dexter, Damages, and The Wire! Tragic!?

?I?m thankful to have someone who loves me, and lets me love him without restraint. But I would never have found love if I hadn?t first learned to love and accept myself. That love ? the love I have for myself and the love I have for and from my wonderful, supportive partner ? has given me the courage to take risks and to be the person I have always wanted to be.?

?I?m grateful that my husband is?so supportive of my career?and actively helped me this past year to pursue something that made me happy and filled me with purpose.?

?I?ve been rejected so many times this year and spent maybe 1/5 of it overthinking, moping, and being a waste of space. But I?m thankful that no matter how horrible life seems to be at the moment, and as quickly as I get attached to someone, I just as quickly?bounce back.?

?I?m thankful I live with someone who thinks playing the Parks and Rec theme-song using hand percussion on my ass is a normal way to start an evening of tea and television.?

?I?m thankful that I have a?built in best friend?in my boyfriend. ?The foundation of our relationship was our friendship, which has proven to be why we?re successful as a couple.?

?I?m thankful for someone who always puts me first, and goes out of her way to remind me I?m the most special person in her life. Someone who shares my same sense of humor and life values, but balances me out and motivates me to constantly improve.?

?I?m so very thankful for a boyfriend who makes me laugh constantly, is incredibly loving, and kicks ass doing the chores I hate doing (mostly dishes? and laundry? and really anything involving cleaning)!?

?I?m thankful for?.

?the electric charge you get when you?re kissing someone for the first time?and when it happens most of the time on the next few hundred.
?the fantastic group of guys who look out for me in terms of my dating life, offer me smart advice about men, and answer my ?bro-signal??when I need help!
?the fact that no matter who or what you?re looking for in terms of romance, there?s no better place than NY for finding the right person to enjoy the city with, however fleeting that time might be and often is!
?that we live in this time when you can connect with people digitally, but we?re not so immersed that you can?t go offline with someone worth spending time with off the grid, no phones.?

?I?m thankful that my boyfriend is sweet, thoughtful, does the dishes, and makes me laugh. But this holiday season, I?m mainly thankful that he lets me listen to Christmas music before Thanksgiving.?
